How do I add a tub in a closet space?
Hello, I have a small toilet / bathroom call is more as a bathroom cabinet. When you open the shower door there is so little space that her body wet hits the edge of the toilet. Yuck! And to open the door to leave I push my body against the wall to make space for the door! The shower is about 36 "square and the fourth is about 38" wide. I would like replace the upstairs shower room with shower-bath (legs, perhaps) using the adjacent area right outside the bathroom cupboard. It would mean tearing down a wall. Do I need an architect, contractor or maintenance staff? My remodeling budget is $ 16,000 for everything, including landscaping, new refrigerator, upper floors and painting. (I know, do not laugh. So here I am waiting to use "people power" to get ideas because I can not seem to trust the quote that I got so far and they are totally crazy! ($ 30,000 and up). Any ideas? Oh yes, I'm in Southern California face.
Sorry, but that sounds like a fair estimate of that part of the country, the materials alone will be expensive! Removing a wall and replacing the entire bathroom accessories, etc, plastering, plumbing, wiring, roof, itself a fair price to begin with, and if a load-bearing wall perhaps even more, all depends. Good luck.
