On holiday in the Caribbean
The name is almost synonymous with Caribbean sea, sun and sand. The magnificent beaches abound, from the dazzling white sand, to sand pink to rich golden sand through beautiful black sand beaches. These beaches seem to invite you to immerse yourself in the brilliant blue water and then relax in the beach sunbathing and admiring the beauty of the scene. For those who want more activity on the beach reclining in a lounge chair with a drink cold holiday the Caribbean offer a range of beach activities. In almost all the islands you can find jet skis, kayaks, parasailing, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, water skiing and trips banana boat on the main beaches.
The opportunity to surf is a key element in deciding on a holiday for a growing number of people and Barbados is a paradise for surfers in the Caribbean. The location of the island in the distance in the Atlantic Ocean allows waves to travel thousands of miles across sea before finally releasing their power over the coral reefs of Barbados. Barbados receives surfing waves in all directions thus providing surfing conditions for a number unlimited all over. The number one location for surfing in Barbados is the internationally recognized Soup Bowl in Bathsheba. On the whole island yet there are beaches suitable for surfing, Brandons Beach near Bridgetown to Accra Beach. South Point Beach has a very strong and clean wave, while the outskirts on Inchcape looks at Silver Sands Beach break, 365 days a year. For those who do not know how to surf, but want to learn during the holidays, Barbados has many surf shops for instruction.
The Dominican Republic is known as the kiteboarding capital of the world and for the last four years of the Kiteboarding World Cup was held in the city of Cabarete, Dominican Republic. Throughout this region of the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, nature has created the perfect combination of wind, water and waves to generate incomparable kitesurfing and windsurfing conditions. In June of each year, Windsurfers also come to Cabarete for the annual World Cup of Windsurfing.
As full of fun as the Caribbean beaches are today There is much more than a vacation in the Caribbean to the beach activities and these activities are both beyond and behind the beach. As you move beyond the beach is a series of activities including deep sea fishing, dolphin / whale watching and diving.
Fishing is a recreational pastime in all Caribbean islands throughout the Caribbean and certain pelagic fish stocks can be found playing with some of the most sought after billfish species, marlin, tuna and wahoo. How are you migrating fish species are more abundant at certain times of the year on each island, but other species may be encountered during all year on different islands. Trinidad and Tobago has one of the most diverse species of birds found in a place with over 460 species in a combined area of 1868 miles square. Asa Wright Nature Center, is Trinidad and Tobago birding location and has been widely recognized as one of the ecosystems of tourism success stories in the world. Asa Wright, with a listing of 159 bird species, is a 270-acre conservatory, situated in a former coffee, cocoa, citrus plantations partly reclaimed by secondary forest and largely surrounded by impressive rainforest. The center has several cabins that are available for rent and you can choose to spend a night, a weekend or even longer. There are numerous trails throughout the property and well-informed guides. Two of the most Highlights include the bouncy ride of the leks to see these beautiful little birds dance to attract a mate and see and hear the Bellbird beard. Another special attraction Asa Wright Nature Center, is a breeding colony of Guacharo night or Guacharo (Oilbird). Situated in Dunston Cave, this is easily accessible colony only known from this species. These visits generally, however must be booked in advance the number of visits and visitors is limited.
Wet, wild and marvelous are the words that describe another popular outdoor activity holidays in the Caribbean; River Tubing. The Granada Balthazar River, the river Layou Dominica, Jamaica, Rio White or Great River can rotate and turn into large tubes both as the stream carried on a thrilling ride down the river. En route you can enjoy the natural virgin rain forest and end of your journey you can swim in natural river pools.
Nature has blessed the Caribbean, in innumerable ways and has given a lot of natural attractions. On the island of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands is a national park known as the bathrooms. These are giants granite boulders scattered on a beach washed by the azure Caribbean Sea. Standing almost 50 feet high, these huge rocks form a series of caves in which to play and explore. Within this maze coastal many placid pools to create a truly romantic place.
St. Lucia boasts one of the most unique natural attractions the Caribbean, with what is probably the world's only drive in volcano. Located in La Soufriere can drive your car to the semi-active volcano and then take a guided tour. The five acres whistle wide crater landscape is a red, blue and green tinted, which has 24 holes vapor that hint at the iron deposits, copper oxide, magnesium and other minerals surfacing. The whole area offers a fascinating insight into what must have seemed the earth 400,000 years ago when molten lava dome collapsed.
The bioluminescent bay is in Puerto Mosquito (Mosquito Bay), located on the southern coast of the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico must be valued as one of the things you must see before you die. A trip to the bay on a warm night is a magical experience, because when you disturb the calm waters around the bay, agencies microscopic Bay emit a blue-green light and swimming or kayaking in the bay is like floating among the stars. The 2008 Guinness Book of Records has Bioluminescent Bay officially the most brilliant magical place in the world.
The Caribbean is considered desirable property in the 17th century and 18, which gave in numerous battles between France, England, Spain and Holland and many islands, changing ownership several times. The need to protect these islands led to numerous fortifications, while the change of ownership led to several architectural styles. Many of these historical sites are well preserved and provide interesting glimpses of the past. Two of these sites are of Brimstone Hill, St. Kitts and Barbados Garrison Historic District.
The Brimstone Hill Fortress has become a National Park and is a World Heritage site of historical significance, cultural and architectural heritage. The fortress is considered one of the best preserved fortifications history in the Americas. It has been described as "a monument to the ingenuity of British military engineers who designed it and the skill, strength and endurance African slaves who built and maintained. "Brimstone Hill Tours are conducted daily, and highlights include the hospital, ammunition stores, fourth officer of artillery, the Prince of Wales Bastion, and the Citadel of Fort George. Besides learning about the historical significance of the fort, the visit allows one the opportunity to enjoy attractive panoramic views of the mountains with forests, farmlands, historic town of Sandy Point and the nearby islands of Nevis, Montserrat, Saba, St. Martin and St. Barts.
The Garrison historic area around the Garrison Savannah Barbados, which is the center of much of the sports facilities and recreational activities in Barbados. However, the Savannah is a historic landmark for more than a sport. The historical significance of the Garrison Savannah dates back to 1650 when Charles Fort was built in the area and then in 1705, was added Fort St. Ann's. This area became a military and being the site of a military complex, many buildings were built from 1660 to 1800. These buildings are now the Garrison area much of its historical and architectural interest. In any walk through the area Garrison can not help seeing multiple cannons, located in the area. These are part of the Barbados National Cannon Collection, which is the largest group of 17th century English guns in the world. One of the buildings in this area is the main Guard building facing the racecourse. This elegant Georgian building of 1802, with its beautiful clock tower and large veranda is now an information center and houses exhibitions on the West India Regiment. As you continue around the Sabana-military buildings there are numerous 17th-19th century, built from bricks brought as ballast in ships from England and several memorials. Another significant building in this area is the Barbados Museum, located in a compound formerly a military prison, and centered around a spacious courtyard with large trees and shrubs in bloom.
When night falls, their activities do not end in the Caribbean has a variety of bars, clubs and world class restaurants. For some local flavor, however, the street weekly games are incomparable.
