good landscaping trees
What is a good tree in Southern California?

We are in middle to redo our front yard gardens. We would like to add a pretty tree in the center of our courtyard. We are looking for one that survives the heat of California, but doen't make a huge mess real. I've seen trees Magnolia and love, but not sure if they work well in Cali. Any suggestions on trees?

Evergreen magnolias make great-Atlantic on the east coast, so they should do even better in Cali. They are extremely resistant to drought and cold ANF have big flowers in the spring. They shed their old leaves in the spring after new ones take their place. The tree remains bright green throughout the year. Cordyline are great too, but really arent trees but aboout tree like in 15 years form a seedbed. Live Oak also looks nice, but needs to be very well watered phenological drought. That is always green too, but sometimes it loses its leaves. Plumerias are one of the best trees. They can be kept unpruned to become a small tree about 15 years, or Evey continually prunes four years to keep it in a bush form. There can be pruned often, because if a branch is pruned flowers habit for the rest of the year. They lose their leaves in the winter and stressed that LOVE and flourish best when dry. Its leaves are larger and more complete when it is wet however. Usually is covered with flowers in the spring before the leaves appear, then take a break. A mature plant will have flowers on it from spring to fall without stopping, but a young plant with only scattered flowers. Also die with the lightest frost. Generally, to obtain damages tip temps go below 37, but if protect from frost that can handle the low 30s with mimimal damage. His many mature specimens really nice interiors in Los Angeles and San Diego. Good luck
