plant variety concerned about the color of the leaves?
I have two variegated plants in my backyard. Southern California weather, sometimes very hot and dry. A plant is a tree with variegated leaves and lavender flowers. Gets plenty of sun, grows, blooms for months. About 3 years without pests. The other is a vine with variegated leaves and (I think) pink flowers. Plant is doing well. Both plants have variegated leaves well-defined, white and green. About 2 years without pests. However, both plants have a greater freshness "rod" with all "white" leaves and branches. Without pigment, exposure to sun Like the rest of the plant. Especially in the tree branch is not very healthy and has brown spots. What's happening with the color of plants and may be related with a type of fertilizer? I use Dr. Earth organic fertilizer, as recommended by the landscape designer, but do not fertilize as often as it should.
The amount of light variegated plant can affect the color, but this is just a mutation. It is not so unusual for a plant has a branch that has a mutation develops a different color. If I'm right is well developed as variegated plants. The branches are called mutant "sports." If I do not like, could only pruning. I do not think this is a disease.
