Simplicity as a principle of gardening. Most home garden designers do not realize that simplicity is really one of the principles of gardening. Not only is it a design principle, but of all art forms. And while it may seem unimportant to most, is really a guideline more important to follow.

Simplicity not only suggest that landscape design should be completely smooth or simplistic. It just means staying with the other principles dominant in relation to the contrast, shape, and repetition.

A common mistake that most people do is try to add too much of various objects and elements in their design, for starters. This can cause confusion and distortion of the final design plan. Keep your ideas simple actually first instead keep things clear and in perspective. You can always add later.

The most obvious example is the selection of plants and color schemes. Selection of plants is often a huge obstacle for a lot of people in general because they have no idea of the innumerable varieties of plants to choose. And yet, many People go and buy several different varieties of plants poorly adapted out in their gardens. And doing this can make the whole garden design being out of balance.

So how to keep things simple?

While most people do not have much knowledge of garden plants, most people is somewhat familiar with a variety or two or can see what stands out in its neighboring yards. And looking at what works is where to start. You can get more effects a simple selection of a couple of good varieties, and then repeated throughout the garden that will separate a mixture of plantations.

In more simple, pick a few different types of plants and repeat the whole garden. Repetition is also a principle of landscape design.

Here is pretty cool design "trick" to try:

To create an impact on the design, trying to build a few beds or borders using tones a different color. Make this species using two, three, or more of the plants and also going to create an interesting contrast of textures. And like other elements, variable contrast and texture are also in art and design principles.

This basic design principle can be applied to all different areas and elements of its design. It is not only limited to your plants.

Save your landscape design simple in the early stages. This will make it easier to design and you can always add more items later. All gardens or garden project but must express the principle of simplicity.
