landscaping back of house

Does Landscaping add the value of your home, if so, how?
We are thinking of adding a water feature and and other landscaping and lighting professionals.
Landscaping can add anything from 10 to 30% of the value of a house. A house with gardens will be always more attractive than a home without. This can be important if you want to sell at some point if the market is down can be the difference between selling and not selling your home. Note that a residential area with gardens are usually more expensive neighborhoods. I would be careful with water feature, not overcapitalise, and make sure it is in the style of your home. At the moment in Australia the majority of new houses and gardens are receiving water characteristics, is considered a necessity for and maintenance. I agree that the bathroom and kitchen are very important but if not get out of the car because you do not like the appearance of your still not going to be to get a sale. Also something to consider today is that people do not seem to like to do much themselves, if everything inside and out is finished and looking good that seem happy to pay more for it.
