What are the giant brown circles on the ground that are visible from the aircraft?
While flying to Houston from Las Vegas, I looked on landscape somewhere between El Paso and Austin, and I saw many copper / brown colored circles on the floor. These are the circles the soil where crops have been or will be grown. Many farmers are now using center pivot irrigation, where water is delivered to the crop in a circular from a source located in the center of the circles. In the picture it seems that the crops have been harvested with only the visible plow. The plow appears darker than the undisturbed soil surroundings. In another time of year, the circles can appear green.
