Planting against the Foundation – the prevention of water damage?
We're having some landscaping done and part of the plan includes a box Unilock flower constructed of interlocking bricks / pavers against the front of the house. My husband is concerned that the soil moisture box and filter into the house / foundation. Is this a valid question and if so how can we prevent this from happening?
Get your builder to use hose slot agricultural drainage in the picture on the wall. They may be already going to use anyway I think is a fairly common practice, if you are worried about the gardens against walls. The tube is placed against the wall and the water drains into the slots and the tube to the outside in the rain water (usually the roof). Planter boxes without drainage usually end fracture of the expansion and contraction of the soil. Hope this helps.
